The Associació del Museu de la Ciència, la Tècnica i l'Arqueologia Industrial de Catalunya (Association of the Science, Technical and Catalonian Industrial Archaeology Museums) awarded two of Bonaplata prizes 2006 to Fundició Dúctil Benito (Benito). This award is due to its collaboration with the Museu Industrial del Ter (Industrial Museum of the river Ter ) and an additional Restoration prize for the rehabilitation of the former textile factory Can Rifà.
Collaboration Award
The jury valued the continuous support of Fundició Dúctil Benito to the Museo Industrial del Ter and the fact that a private company can be so bint to a cultural project related to the industrial heritage of the region where it develops its activity.
Additional award for Real Estate Restoration
On the other hand, the members of the jury highlighted the efforts of Fundició Dúctil Benito to maintain the original value of an historical building (Can Rifà) and they understand it has been a good idea to incorporate it into the current company’s group.
In addition, they appreciate the correct rehabilitation of this building and its reuse as a show room of urban equipment. The rehabilitation management has been carried out by the Colomer-Rifà architecture-engineering and it has been also achieved thanks to the support and assessment of the architect Miquel Suriñach.
The prizes award was held on the 11th of December in the head office of the Col·legi d'Enginyers Industrials de Catalunya (Industrial Engineers of Catalonia Association), in Barcelona.
