BENITO presents the latest advances in efficient street lighting in Pamplona
In the course of a symposium on efficient street lighting which took place in June in Pamplona, David Roura, on behalf of Fundició Dúctil Benito, gave a talk on energy saving and the new features of street lighting.
The head of street lighting at BENITO highlighted the replacement of mercury by high-pressure sodium both in the bulb and in tje electrical system. He also drew attention to high-performance luminaires which make the maximum use of the light generated by the bulb.
Another of the topics highlighted by the speaker from BENITO was the waterlightness of these products, which apart from stopping outside agents such as water or dust from getting in also ensures reduced maintenance and greater efficiency in the medium to long term.
David Roura also devoted part of his talk to nex technology, in particular to the use of electronic systems. He highlighted their ability to stablise current and therefore power consumption, and the fact that they prolong the life of the bulb.
Finally, Roura discussed the use of luminaires with smart LED's which make it possible to adapt the light level in a street to the use made of it at particular times, depending on the amount of traffic or pedestrians in it.
The symposium was attended by some forty local authority experts, installers and planners from different municipalities around Navarra. Also present were representatives of major firms such as Philips or General Electric.
