TMT Factory and Fundició Dúctil Benito (Benito) received the Business Cooperation Prize at the 9th Premis Barcelona d’Ofici Emprenedora (Barcelona Entrepreneur Awards) on 15 March. The awards are organised by Barcelona Activa, the city council’s local development agency, aimed at fostering and promoting entrepreneurial spirit in the city.
TMT Factory and Benito took home the award for the Smartpoint Project, a new advertising and news channel formed by a revolutionary design in urban furniture and an LCD screen. The screen shows all types of news and advertising content, permanently updated via Wimax. This fine example of innovation and business cooperation made it the winner from among the three finalists in its category. Smartpoint will be presented in the near future.
The award ceremony was held at Palau de Congresos de Catalunya before the Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, who participated in the event; the Councillor for Innovation, Universities and Business, Josep Huguet; the Secretary-General for Industry, Joan Trullén; the President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Miquel Valls; the President of the Zona Franca Consortium, Manuel Royes, and the Managing Director of CaixaHolding, Marcelino Armenter.
One of Benito’s core values is to promote innovation and creativity in collaboration with technology and university partners, architects and designers. It has spent over 2.8 million euros on research, development and innovation (R+D+I) in the past 3 years.
