If we outfit a 10 m public street, of two sidewalks of 2 m length, with ecoefficient luminaires, we reduce the energy consumption in 16,000 kWh and the cost of electricity in 1,800 Euros a year. This is the main conclusion of the study Energy Saving, Economical Saving and benefit for the environment, made by BENITO’s Street Lighting Area for designers, contractors and Public Administrations.
For writing this report a case study of a 10 m public street (2 m height for each sidewalk) outfitted with 50 BENITO’s luminaires has been used: Neovilla (classical), Realia (classical), Duna Lira (residential) and Vialia Lira (residential). These models have been compared to a market standard luminaire (BENITO’s Villa model).
For reaching the same lighting level, a standard luminaire needs 150W Vsap power, and an ecoefficient luminaire just needs 70W Vsap. If for rush hours more lighting is needed, 100W Vsap double level equipments would be installed.
These ecoefficient luminaires help in reducing costs for City Councils, in preserving the environment and in fighting climate change.
