Fundició Dúctil Benito explains the new energy efficiency regulations
Over the months of February and March, Fundició Dúctil Benito organised a series of symposia on the new energy efficiency regulations which came into force on 1st April. At these events, the head of the company's street lighting division outlined the main aspects of the rules for the benefit of technical experts from numerous local authorities.
The aims are energy saving, cutting emissions of polluting gases to a minimum and reducing light pollution. The ultimate goal is to provide maximum lighting using as little power as possible. To do this a maintenance plan needs to be rolled out involving aspects such as the regular replacement of bulbs, cleaning of luminaires, inspections and electrical measurements.
The regulations lay down efficiency scales depending on the use made of the street or road, which range from motorways to pedestrianised areas. In this respect, in areas described as functional (e.g. main roads) there must be more light and therefore there is greater rigour in efficiency than in environmental areas (e.g. parks).
At these meetings Fundició Dúctil Benito presented some of its products which are fully compliant with the new regulations. These are the items in the Duna series, the Realia luminaires and the Neo Fernandina ranges. These are products with low pollution ratings, below 1%; their features include high energy efficiency, as they make full use of the power reaching them, and also very simple maintenance when it comes to replacing lamps and electrical equipment. These luminaires have highly waterproof, which means they do not need cleaning.
The symposia were held in: Seville (17th February - 42 people from Córdoba, Seville, Huelva and Cádiz), Granada (19th February - 41 people from Granada, Jaén and Almería), Manlleu (10th March - 27 people from Barcelona and Girona), Salamanca (31st March - 45 people from the same province) and Bilbao (2nd April - 22 people from Álava and Vizcaya).
