A few days ago Roda de Ter saw the unveiling of a three-metre sculpture by the Benitoartis team. The monument, in tribute to blood donors, symbolises red blood cells and the bloodstream and is made of steel.
The piece, designed by Gemma Farran, is sited in the green space next to the Carrer Ferran Alsina, very close to the primary health centre in the residential neighbourhood of Can Portavella.
It was unveiled on 10th May in an event attended by different personalities, including the president of the Federation of Blood Donors' Associations, Marc Ibars.
The sculpture was highly successful because of its elegance and its site. Different representatives of various blood donors' associations said they identified strongly with the work. Local residents, for their part, expressed their satisfaction and appreciation of the work of art as an improvement to the area.
