The city of Olot, located in the heart of the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park and renowned for its unique landscape of dormant volcanoes, continues to move towards more sustainable mobility. The City Council has installed six new secure bike shelter, with a total capacity of 70 bicycles, thus strengthening the municipal network of secure parking facilities.

A Firm Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
According to the city council itself, these new facilities are part of the network of six secure parking areas that the city is deploying with the aim of promoting the use of bicycles as a means of everyday transport.
Bicycle Racks have been strategically placed in areas with high urban activity, including:
- Plaça de l'U d'October 2017
- Carrer Mulleras, next to Plaça Mercat
- Bus station
- Sports pavilion area
- Hospital d'Olot i Comarcal de la Garrotxa
- Pere Badosa Avenue
With this network, the City Council aims to transform the use of public space, reduce polluting emissions, and improve air quality. The initiative aligns with the city's commitment within the Covenant of Mayors for Sustainable Energy and Climate, which promotes actions to reduce the carbon footprint and move towards a more peaceful city.
An Infrastructure Designed for People
As Isaac Crivillés, Councillor for Mobility and Ecological Transition of the Olot City Council, explains,
“ The new parking facilities are key hubs in the city; spaces for sports, health, services, and connectivity. Their implementation promotes healthier habits and cleaner, more environmentally friendly modes of transportation .”
Furthermore, the council states that this action will soon be complemented by the creation of new bike lanes, reinforcing the 'Olot Pedala' project and enhancing safe routes for cyclists.
