At BENITO URBAN , we collaborated with the artist Laia Estruch on AÜC , an installation presented at Oliva Artés during Llum BCN 2026 , from February 6th to 8th. The work features a human figure emerging from the darkness like a luminous mirage, suspended in the air without touching the ground.
The installation is based on the historic Pepper's Ghost effect, a stage technique developed from the 16th century onwards that uses mirrors and projections to create optical illusions.
Situated between sculpture and performance, AÜC investigates how to preserve the memory of an action performed live by a body. Through the combination of light, human voices, and a structure of translucent panels, the work constructs an almost holographic presence that moves freely through space, questioning the ways in which the ephemeral gestures of the moving body are archived and remembered.
The installation reaffirms BENITO URBAN 's commitment to contemporary creation and the cultural activation of public space, within the framework of Llum BCN 2026 .
