Installation of a 380 m² permanent tensile canopy at Parco del Castello in Novi Ligure, designed to withstand rain, snow and demanding climatic loads.
Need / Problem: The space required a permanent canopy, rather than a conventional shade sail, capable of withstanding demanding weather conditions such as rain and snow accumulation.
Solution: Design and installation of a large-format PVC textile membrane, supported by metal pillars at two different heights and based on specific structural calculations.
Result: A durable, safe canopy that blends seamlessly into the surroundings of Parco del Castello.
A 380 m² permanent textile canopy has been installed in the Parco del Castello area of Novi Ligure, designed to remain in place throughout the year and withstand the local weather conditions.
Unlike a conventional shade sail, this solution was conceived as a fixed structure capable of supporting rainfall and accumulated snow loads. A beige PVC membrane was used to ensure aesthetic integration with the surroundings, together with metal pillars featuring a corten-effect finish.
The installation combines pillars of different heights to create the required slope in the canopy, improving water drainage and enhancing its structural performance under climatic loads. Due to the project's size and technical requirements, it included load calculations and a preliminary design developed by a registered engineer, as well as the translation of the officially approved project.
