The Tour's yellow lights illuminate iconic buildings with BENITO URBAN technology

7 July 2026

To mark the start of the Tour de France from Barcelona, BENITO URBAN is participating in the special lighting of three emblematic buildings in Catalonia using RGBW technology.

In the days leading up to the Tour de France, yellow took center stage in Catalonia's nightscape. The cycling race's most recognizable color illuminated various locations across the region to celebrate the arrival of one of the world's greatest sporting events, thanks to technology by BENITO URBAN .

The MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia) was bathed in yellow to welcome the Tour de France to Barcelona. To make this possible, BENITO URBAN integrated new Milan RGBW Floodlights into the building, a solution designed for architectural and heritage lighting that allows for the combination of white and colored light in a single installation.

The intervention connects three emblematic spaces: the MNAC , located in Montjuïc and one of the great cultural landmarks of Barcelona; the Castell de Castelldefels, a historical complex with a strong visual presence in the municipality; and the Torre dels Vents of Tarragona, an urban structure linked to the contemporary landscape of the city.

RGBW technology to illuminate large events

RGBW technology allows for the creation of precise color scenes tailored to each context, while maintaining the option to use white light when the building or surroundings require it. This versatility is especially important in interventions on architecture, heritage sites, and high-visibility urban spaces, where lighting must combine visual impact, technical control, and respect for the environment.

The Milan RGBW Floodlights incorporate DMX-512 control, allowing for precise management of intensity, color, and scene programming. Thanks to this system, the lighting can be adapted to events, celebrations, or institutional needs, creating a recognizable nighttime image without altering the architectural identity of each building.

Three buildings, one shared language of light

At the MNAC , Milan XL RGBW Floodlights have been installed, with a total power of 250 W, configured to illuminate the facade and the main architectural volumes of the building.

At Castelldefels Castle, the installation features over 50 Milan RGBW Floodlights of varying sizes—M, XL, and XXL—complemented by 25W RGBW recessed floor Floodlights . This combination allows for the illumination of different planes, heights, and perspectives of the historic site.

Meanwhile, the Torre dels Vents in Tarragona is illuminated by Floodlights Milan M RGBW, reinforcing its urban presence in the days leading up to the start of the competition.

Light as a territorial identity

The Tour de France began on Saturday, July 4th, with the first stage from Barcelona to Barcelona. The second stage linked Tarragona and Barcelona, while the third started in Granollers and finished in Les Angles .

For BENITO URBAN, being part of the lighting linked to the Tour de France represents an opportunity to demonstrate the role of light as a tool for urban communication, territorial identity and the enhancement of heritage.

The lighting of the MNAC , Castelldefels Castle and the Torre dels Vents connects three points of the territory through the same light language: the yellow of the Tour.
