Pedestrianisation of Portalet in Vic, transformed into a seating space with ARQ benches, TOMSK lighting and RGBW projection to enhance the historic surroundings.
Need / Issue: The presence of vehicles limited pedestrian use and the quality of the urban space.
Solution: Pedestrianisation and incorporation of urban furniture and architectural lighting.
Result: A more accessible, organised environment focused on public enjoyment is created.
Portalet in Vic (Barcelona) has been renovated to become a fully pedestrian space, designed for both rest and movement of residents and visitors.
The intervention includes ARQ benches, a model already present in other parts of the city such as the entrance to Plaça Major, becoming a characteristic feature of Vic. Their straight, geometric and elegant design, available with and without backrests, encourages both use and integration within the historic setting.
The space is completed with the installation of an Atlas fountain and INOX litter bins, adding functionality and coherence.
Lighting plays a key role with TOMSK luminaires for pedestrian circulation and Milan RGBW projectors, which enhance the city walls on special occasions.
An intervention that returns the space to people and enhances urban heritage.
